My Recent Fitness Journey

Have you ever been in a rut? Have you found yourself doing something over and over and becoming bored or not seeing the results you intended to see? Well, that was me at the beginning of this school year.

I love working out. The sweat, endorphins and confidence I exude post-workout makes me keep coming back for more. But, something recently felt “off” and I started doing a little research. Living in a day and age where there are so many workouts and classes to choose from, there aren’t many I haven’t tried. But what I noticed was that these high-intensity, foot pounding workouts were not meant for me.

I am not saying that classes like boxing, cycling, yoga etc. are bad, but what I am saying is that these classes were not giving me my desired results.   I also started having a lot of hip and lower back pain. As I started listening to my body and doing my research, I decided to try out personal training.

I started working with Justin Gelband, dubbed the “model whisperer”,  in September of this year and cannot express enough how much my body has improved. I have learned that squats, jumps, and burpees are not the only way to sculpt my body but also that my body does not respond to those harsh movements. Instead,  we spend most of our time on the pilates reformer, doing very low resistance training and stretching a lot.  Additionally I foam roll almost every day to decrease swelling and increase lymphatic drainage.

By meeting with Justin 2-3 days a week, I have seen my body become leaner, my pain has gone away, and I am motivated to live a more all-around-healthy lifestyle.

I want to encourage you guys to not get discouraged when something isn’t working or giving you your desired results. Keep doing your research. Keep putting in the work. And listen to your body – it’ll thank you for it.
