Last year we began a tradition that I hope to continue for years. We call it the “Christmas Cookie Day”. It takes place close to Christmas and consists of a couple friends getting together and baking lots of Christmas cookies. We then box them up and deliver them to our friends and family around the city. It is the perfect activity to get us all in the Christmas spirit! I mean, what better way is there to spread the holiday cheer than gifting boxes of yummy, fresh cookies?
Since we were in the middle of moving apartments last year during this time, we decided to rent a kitchen for the day. We used The Kitchen Table which ended up being the perfect oasis away from our hectic homes. We ordered all the ingredients and supplies beforehand so all we had to do the day of was show up and bake!
We made our 10 favorites: Peanut Butter Hershey Kiss cookies, Eggnog Butter cookies, Holiday M&M cookies, Buckeyes, Peppermint Brownie Truffles, Russian Tea cookies, Cutout Sugar cookies, Hungarians (a family recipe), Chocolate Dipped Pretzels and of course, Christmas Crack! In just about 10 hours, we baked, decorated and packaged 20+ boxes of cookies!
Between baking the cookies, we enjoyed samples, listened to Christmas music and had a blast! This year, we plan to change up the menu a little bit but maintain the tradition at the same venue with the same people! However, this year I will be giving away a couple boxes to some of my followers who are located in the city. More details to come so stay tuned for this years Christmas Cookie extravaganza!
